It sounds as if you are very uncomfortable in your own skin. I was this way also for a very long time. What I have learned through counceling, is that you need; #1. Love yourself first!! Nothing is more important. People cannot like you if you don't like yourself. It shows through. #2. Get involved with something that interests YOU, not what interests others. Make a pact with yourself to engage in a conversation with a person of interest (someone YOU would like as a friend) at least once a week, and DO IT. NOBODY can learn anything about you if you do not put yourself out there and get involved. If people ignore you or don't seem interested, don't worry about them, they are not worthy of your friendship anyways. #3. As far as fashion, WHO CARES what others are wearing. Do YOU like it? Are YOU happy in it? If it worries you so much, ask someone who looks like a potential friend to go to the mall with you to help pick out some things. This is a good way to make friends too. One should never change their uniqueness just because they want to fit in! People should to be worthy to be your friend, not you needing and changing who you are to be worthy of being theirs.
